Research & Development Cell

The institution has an extensive Research and Development Cell (R&D Cell) which has been started in the year of 2014 with the purpose of promoting and supporting research activities among the faculty members and students. Each department has a Research Forum, a wing of Research and Development Cell which supports the aims of R&D Cell. The major objective of the R&D Cell is inculcating research and consultancy among the faculty members, encouraging them for quality publishing, proposal preparation and submission to the special grants from the industry and other beneficiary agencies;and signing MoU(Memorandum of Understanding) with the industries and other research bodies.

The other activities of R&D Cell are conducting National/International conferences, seminars and workshops, inviting academic and eminent industrial persons to address and enlighten the faculty and students on research and innovation.The R&D Cell paves the institutional strategies for planning, upgrading and creating infrastructural facilities to meet the needs of researchers especially in the new and emerging areas of research. Research facilities are made available to the students and research scholars outside the campus and in other research laboratories by collaboration with industries and research concerns, which ensures the guidance from Industrial engineers for their research and also use equipment and other facilities available in the organization. KIT-Kalaignarkarunanidhi Institution of Technology has initiated a Global Institution for Advanced Studies and Research with Eastern Michigan University (EMU), USA. The institution has also created collaborative facilities like Laboratories, library, instruments, computers and new technologies for research activities.

The measures taken by R&D Cell are,to facilitate smooth progress and implementation of research schemes by autonomy to the principal investigator, timely availability or release of resources, adequate infrastructure and human resources, reduced teaching load and special leave to Faculty Members, support in terms of technology and information needs and also facilitates timely auditing and submission.

Recommendations of Research Committee:
  • 1.To submit proposals to the funding agencies for conducting National/International conferences, seminars and workshops with the state-of-the-art technology.
  • 2.Sponsorship for attending workshops, seminars.
  • 3.To inculcate research and consultancy among the faculty.
  • 4.To invite academic and industrial eminent persons to address faculty.
  • 5.To grant special leave and on duty.
  • 6.Incentive for publications.
  • 7.Special increment on completion of Ph.D.
  • 8.Travel grant for participation in seminar.
  • 9.To become member in professional societies.
  • 10.In order to support the objectives of R&D Cell, each department establishes a Research Forum which is a wing of Research and Development Cell.
Frequency of meetings

At least four meetings a year

Circulation of papers

Papers for the meeting are circulated electronically to members, permanent invitees and for information to Research Committee and HoDs of all departments.

Replacement members

Where members of the committee are not able to attend a particular meeting, they are encouraged to send a replacement. In the case of members of the Committee is faculty member, the replacement member should also be an academic staff. Permanent invitees may also send replacements when they are not able to attend.
